The last and probably most-loved of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals. Set in Austria in 1938, on the eve of annexation to Germany, Maria, a novice nun, takes a job as a governess for Captain von Trapp’s family, before taking her final vows. After falling in love with the children, and then their father, the family escapes Austria in opposition to the Nazis. The show is filled with songs that have become standards that will make it hard not to sing-along.
